J.C. Staff has announced an anime adaptation for Umihoshi Nanai's manga, Kizuguchi to Hōtai, set to air in January 2027. The anime will be broadcast on ABC and TV Asahi's Animazing programming block, airing late nights on Saturdays at 26:00, effectively Sunday mornings at 2:00 a.m. The series will be directed by Miyuki Ishida, who has previously worked on I.Cinnamoroll and directed episodes of One Punch Man. Susumu Yamakawa will write the scripts, and Natsuki Ōyama will design the characters. The romantic comedy follows Riyo Washizu, the daughter of a yakuza leader, and her caretaker, Gō Kiritani, who discovers her unusual fetish for seeing strong people when they are weak. The manga, which debuted on Kodansha's Comic Days app in August 2024, is set to release its fifth volume on July 16. This announcement adds to the growing list of anime adaptations for manga, with a focus on the romantic comedy genre.
