The 16-year-old boy and his mother were awoken by the noise and rushed to each other's side, only to be threatened with a gun by the intruders. The thieves escaped with a safe, and the family was left shaken but unharmed. Neighbors expressed their horror at the incident, with one stating, 'It's terrifying. I don't know what I would do in that moment. I feel really terrible for them.' The family has lived in the rented home for 11 months without incident, adding to the shock of the event.
