Tired of typing out those pesky URLs from screenshots? You're not alone! It's a common frustration, especially when you're trying to quickly access a link you see online. Thankfully, iOS 26 has a hidden superpower that solves this problem, and it's a game-changer.
With the introduction of visual intelligence in iOS 26, your iPhone now possesses some seriously smart screenshot capabilities. But there's one feature in particular that's been a lifesaver for me: the ability to turn plain text URLs into tappable links directly from a screenshot.
Ever been stuck with a URL you can't click? I'm willing to bet you have! This often happens when you're browsing platforms like Instagram. Since Instagram doesn't allow clickable links in captions or replies, you're usually left with two options:
- "Link in profile"
- A plain text URL that you have to manually copy and paste.
While the latter is becoming less common, it still pops up regularly.
But here's where iOS 26 comes to the rescue.
Apple has ingeniously added a feature that lets you take a screenshot, and thanks to its new visual intelligence, your iPhone will recognize the URL and provide a clickable link right there on the screen. It's that simple!
Essentially, iOS 26 uses AI to scan your screenshot, detect the URL, and then conveniently present it as a tappable link at the bottom of your screen. One tap, and you're there!
Important Note: To enjoy this feature, you'll need an AI-compatible iPhone, like an iPhone 17, iPhone 16, or an iPhone 15 Pro.
By default, screenshots in iOS 26 take you straight to the full-screen view where you'll see this link at the bottom. However, if you've chosen to revert to the iOS 18 behavior, where screenshots appear as a small thumbnail in the bottom-left corner, you'll need to tap that thumbnail first to load the full-screen view.
What do you think about this new feature? Is it as useful for you as it has been for me? Let me know in the comments below! I'm curious to hear your thoughts and experiences.
